MEET

All our cask ales are made locally along with our craft beers, plus there’s a selection of continental lagers and session ales on tap and a great cocktail list. We also offer a carefully chosen list of 70 wines, including sparkling, champagne and dessert wines, including our own Italian Bull house White and Red. Enjoy a drink in our spacious bar with crackling fire, or cosy up in the adjoining morning room.

SLEEP

Open year-round, The Bull’s 21 bedrooms were designed in partnership with Arkells Brewery’s in-house interior designer, Jo Titchener, who created gorgeous, shabby chic interiors exuding vintage country cool, and similar in style to, The Plough at Kelmscott and The Five Alls, Filkins. Again, locally sourced antique and vintage finds and locally-made, pure wool throws from Cotswold Woollen Weavers, complement the luxurious finishes which include Egyptian cotton linens, feather and down duvets, flat screen TVs, Free Wi-Fi and locally-made toiletries by Wold Garden.

Welcome to The Bull, a Grade II-listed coaching inn, gloriously situated on the Market Square in Fairford, a picture-perfect market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds. Now part of The Barkby Group PLC which includes the Five Alls at Filkins, The Plough at Kelmscott, The George at Burpham and the Queen’s Arms at East Garston. The Bull offers both restaurant and private dining spaces and a traditional pub bar, with open fires, and serving local craft beers, spirits and great wines. There’s also a traditional vaulted barn, The Bull Room, for weddings and parties for up to 60 guests.

Dating from the 15th century, The Bull is made up of two neighbouring pubs, The Bull and The George, which were later joined together. The Bull was originally a Monk’s Chanting House, and in the 18th and 19th centuries a famous coaching inn on the London to Gloucester turnpike road, with stabling for 30 horses. A secret tunnel was recently discovered, leading from the hotel to the medieval church of St Mary’s nearby. The George was once the town’s post office, and later, a pub serving land workers.

The Bull also has private fishing rights to a 1.25-mile stretch of the River Coln with excellent fishing for grayling and trout, making it a popular base for fly-fishing trips. Rods cost from £50pp a day for up to five people.
